If you spend a lot of time driving to an unknown area, especially if you rent cars in big cities, a good portable GPS makes an amazing difference. And the Garmin 255W is the best one I could find the $ 250 – $ 350 range.
First, this thing just works. I have not had any issues with mine. It was easy to set up and figure out right out of the box, and it is easy to use. I’ve never had trouble getting sufficient signal compared to the earlier and cheaper models.
I chose the 255W for several reasons: some to use the newest and best maps available. This is one of more usable touch screens for entering destinations. Rapid acquisition of satellites. Clothing and almost always come out victorious in the reviews – in particular route.
Ultimately, you buy a car GPS to get you from Point A B just as easily and as efficiently as possible. And that’s what the 255W is not the best. If you have ever had a ‘Brand X’ GPS will take you to some strange way, that adds 20 minutes to travel, but even then the wrong way down a road, said that, however, having passed on the street, frequently loses the satellite signal, or old maps missing streets, you know how important this thing.
The 255W is not really clear whether the display is clearly visible in any light. It is small enough to use his legs. The difference between 255W and 205W the 255 speaks street names, and includes Alaska and Canada.
